Famous Monsters - February 1971

Famous Monsters, the revered imprint of Warren Publications known to Baby Boomer "monster kids" throughout the nation, ran a feature on Disneyland's Haunted Mansion in early 1971. The very brief article did publish some great photos (interestingly, they featured pictures of Yale Gracey working on the "Hatbox Ghost," although it was well known by '71 that the Hatbox Ghost didn't even appear in the Haunted Mansion. ) A brief quote from Gracey himself notes that the element of comedy in the attraction "is like the wink of an eye at the end of a ghost story."
